Triratna Buddhist Group (Worthing)

The Worthing Triratna Buddhist Community meets every Thursday 7.30 – 9.30pm at The Friends Meeting House, rear of 34 Mill Road, Worthing, BN11 5DR.

We place an emphasis on friendliness, meditation, study and bringing our understandings of Buddhism to our daily lives. On Monday and Tuesday evenings some of us meet to study.

If you feel an inner voice wanting to make sense of life, wanting to find a better way to live in the world or maybe a clear vision or desire for greater freedom in this life, in this world then Buddhism is well worth a look. Please feel free to drop in and find out more.

Mind reactive, mind creative cycle beginning 19th September

2500 years ago Siddhartha Gautama left behind the safety and comfort of his ordinary life and went on a quest to find out what created so much internal and external stress and turmoil for humans. In his spiritual quest he discovered the root cause lay in the mind’s misperception of reality, a mind that was conditioned by habit to react. In Buddhism The Wheel of Life depicts this reactive cycle. He discovered through his own deepening understanding of life that it was possible to escape this cycle through a spiral path towards enlightenment or nirvana. Siddhartha became Buddha (the mind that is awake, liberated, creative).

On 19th September we begin a cycle of Thursday evenings on mind reactive, mind creative integrated with our community evenings of meditation and some ritual. 1930-2130.

If you are curious about the Buddha’s message and want to find out more you are very welcome to join us. No obligation, no expectations, no fees. There will be a chance to ask questions and discuss what unfolds.

Wishing you all well

The evenings are open to everyone regardless of experience, age, gender, race, class. A warm welcome awaits – just turn up – we’re on the ground floor, through the front door and to the left.

Everyone is welcome to attend from newcomers wanting to dip their toes in, to those wishing to go deeper in their practice.

Study Courses

For those wishing to learn more about Buddhism we run courses of dharma study and go on regular retreats to deepen our practice.

Devotional

The first Thursday of each month is usually a practice evening – an opportunity to  meditate together and hold a Puja, or devotional ritual.

We celebrate key occasions throughout the Buddhist year as well as the Summer and Winter solstices.

Community

We are part of the wider Triratna Buddhist community, to which everyone is welcomed. We enjoy links to Buddhist Centres, retreat centres and other groups around the UK and beyond. Meditation, festivals and activities are available to a wide and diverse community, including specific groups for the LGBTQIA+ community, for young people and for People of Colour, across Triratna.
